How It All Started...

In 1978, Judd Hart began a residential lawn care and landscaping company. He started by helping his neighbors and members of the community maintain their lawns and landscaping. Early on, quality service and networking enabled continuous growth for Judd. He graduated from Brother Rice High School and continued his education in Oregon. Judd came home to Michigan to re-visit his passion and entrepreneurism. To fulfill the local needs, Judd redesigned his lawn care company to focus on tree care. In 1981, with the love and support of his family and friends, Judd’s tree care business flourished and J.H. Hart Urban Forestry evolved into the successful company it is today.

J.H. Hart Urban Forestry is located in Sterling Heights, Michigan. We are now one of the largest full-service tree care companies in the state and have provided residential, commercial, and municipal services to Southeast Michigan since 1988. Our staff of 35-45 full-time employees, including certified arborists and certified pesticide applicators, provide the highest-quality tree and plant health care management available. J.H. Hart Urban Forestry provides a wide range of services. We specialize in tree trimming and removals, tree fertilization, integrated pest management, and mulch production. Our facility is situated on just over thirteen acres of land. We own a robust fleet of trucks and equipment that we are constantly updating.

J.H. Hart Urban Forestry is the contract city forester for the Cities of Birmingham, Troy, Berkley, Hazel Park, Royal Oak, and the village of Beverly Hills. J. H. Hart also does residential and commercial tree care. With the purchase of a horizontal grinder in 1999, our wood recycling division was established. At that time J.H. Hart’s yard was opened for local tree services to dispose of their wood waste material. The mulch division was created in 2001 and now utilizes two Vermeer TG 7000s to process mulch.

J.H. Hart Urban Forestry in Sterling Heights, Michigan is now one of the largest full-service urban forestry companies in the state and has been providing residential, commercial, and municipal services to Southeast Michigan since 1988. Our staff of 35-45 full-time employees, including certified arborists and licensed pesticide applicators, provides the highest-quality tree and plant health care management available. J.H. Hart Urban Forestry provides a wide range of services specializing in tree trimming and removals, stump grinding, integrated pest management, mulch production, and the disposal and recycling of wood products through grinders. Our facility consists of approximately 16,500 square feet of office, maintenance, and inside storage area, situated on just over six acres of land, and we own a fleet of 65 trucks.

J.H. Hart Urban Forestry is the contract city forester for the City of Birmingham, Troy, Rochester Hills, Lathrup Village, Hazel Park, and Royal Oak, and for the villages of Beverly Hills. Aside from serving municipalities, J. H. Hart also does residential and golf course tree care. With the purchase of a horizontal grinder in 1999, the wood recycling division was established, and J.H. Hart’s yard was opened for other tree services from the area to deliver wood waste material. The mulch division was created in 2001 and now utilizes a Vermeer TG 7000 to process the mulch. Judd Hart is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture.
